All the Art History You Need in One Poster

Vuk Vidor, an artist from Belgrade working in Paris, created this screen printed mural he calls “Art History” out of a list which uses each line to link an artist to his/her cultural impact in three words. Examples include “MONDRIAN OWNS GEOMETRY”, “POLLOCK OWNS DRIPPINGS”, and our favorite “DUCHAMP OWNS EVERYTHING”.

Size: 41.4 x 29.3 in / 105.2 x 74.3 cm

Edition 200

Artist Shout Out: Seripop

August 10, 2009 Art, The Rathaus

seripop2

In Montreal, Cananda Chloe Lum and Yannick Desranleau work together under the name Seripop to design and screen print gig posters, album covers, art prints, books, and illustrations. Armed with a punk DIY attitude and a love of layering neo-psychedelic imagery, Seripop has been impressing (sometimes confusing) and always intriguing the public with their work for over seven years. I personally fell in love with Seripop in 2006 after a friend bought me the Lovvers LP by the duo’s noise-rock band AIDS Wolf which displayed their intense drawing style, skillful printmaking, and vibrant color schemes used in the design of the album’s poster-sized, fold-out record sleeve. Seripop has since started to experiment with sculptural print installations, one of which recently served as the central theme for two nights of music and performance at the BALTIC Centre For Contemporary Art in the UK.

Pizza Party Recap

December 28, 2008 Art, The Rathaus

As promised, The Rathaus braved the crowd at Wonder Fair’s Pizza Party held on December 23rd to bring back these photos. If you are not familiar with the premise of the event, it was simple. Patrons brought an item and for a $5 they chose the print, the placement and color, while one of Wonder Fair’s resident screen printers would take care of the rest. The art for the prints was provided by Crate Lung, b. d. eek, Jouvelt, Justin Shiney, Asteroid Head Art Club, and others. Thanks to procrastinating Christmas shoppers the event was a success so hopefully Wonder Fair will throw another of these screen printing parties in the future.

Another satisfied customer.

Some of the art available.

Baylee was happy to help wash screens.

Cristie of Crate Lung is hard at work selling their own goods.

Eric Dobbins, owner/operator of the Wonder Fair, is making a deal with a young patron.

Read on for more images of Marable’s prints in which he examines change and “critique[s] the good and the bad, the beautiful and the ugly, the wrong and the right, to better understand this balance that continually exists in the world.”
