The Lawrence Arts Center presents a performance by Postcommodity. Postcommodity will perform their new cycle of American Indian futurist hunting songs, “Your New Age Dream Contains More Blood Than You Imagined.” The trio, which features Raven Chacon (KILT, Mesa Ritual and numerous other ensembles), Nathan Young (Ajilvsga, Alms) and Kade Twist (Usga), utilizes antlers, hunting calls and amplifiers to achieve an electro-acoustic hybrid of drone and free-improvisation that transports audiences to that distant place in the woods your parents warned you about. The performance will be accompanied by multi-channel video projections created from feedback that continually shift, evolve and re-imagine the tribal geometries of the future. KcEMA presents “CURRENT TRENDS,” a concert of cutting-edge electronic music and video from around the world. For three seasons, the Kansas City Electronic Music and Arts Alliance (KcEMA) has been introducing audiences to the cutting edge of electronic music and video being created in the Kansas City area. For “Current Trends,” KcEMA is looking further, bringing examples of the most innovative work composed across the U.S. and internationally to Urban Culture Project’s La Esquina, for an exciting evening of sound and image on December’s First Friday. Doors open at 7:30. Admission is free; donations suggested. The concert features works by Mike McFerron, Bret Battey, Matthew Burtner, Jeffrey Hass, Christopher Burns, Robert Ratcliffe, Elainie Lillios, and Bonnie Mitchell.
