Runway Style: Alexander Wang Fall 2011

Finally, Alexander Wang is back! With his last two seasons receiving mixed reviews (me personally on the side of bleh), Wang seems to have hit that cool-girl mark yet again. I could almost see this as a straight step from his American sportswear interpretation in Spring 2010 and forget Fall 2010 and Spring 2011 even happened. Like Spring 2010, Wang has taken an exaggerated and humorous adaptation of a classic idea – in this case decadence and luxury – just to the edge. And simply because it’s exaggerated doesn’t mean it’s not wearable. Cocoon coat, yes please. Tuxedo jacket with puffy sleeves, I’m in. (Faux) fur vest, if I can’t thrift one I may just have to resort to some sleeve alterations.
