Designer Style: Shakuhachi

August 9, 2010 Fashion, Photography

Cult label it is. I’ve been trolling the internets for some bio information on the Australian label Shakuhachi with no results, eventually stumbling upon some late 2009 Nylon news that will do the job:

Founded in the late ’90s, Shakuhachi is finally making its mark on American soil this spring. Designed by Australian native Jessie White, the label originally launched as a small T-shirt line, echoing the laid-back coastal lifestyle of its founder.  Now considered a cult label in its homeland, Shakuhachi’s spring/summer 2010 collection features an enormous variety of styles, going far beyond what you’d see at the local beach.

But really, the Shakuhachi designs can speak for themselves – beautiful and cool, with just enough refinery to possibly pass as work wear (paired correctly mind you). The images shown here are from the Spring 2011 Shakuhachi Lookbook.

Designer Style: Boessert/Schorn

September 6, 2010

Berlin-based Boessert/Schorn know how to create an amazingly interesting shape. And although I’m not always in love with their over-the-top styling combinations, the cuts and draping alone are enough to keep me coming back for more. These looks come from their latest Spring 2011 collection (images via She Breathes).
