Malachai (previously Malakai) originate from Bristol, England and create just the kind of music indicative of artists from the region: dubstep running through their bones, hip hop in their fingers, and ‘60s psychedelia in their hearts – but reworked through the ADHD-affected mind of two musicians of the digital age. Try to imagine the record Kid Koala would’ve made if he was obsessed with obscure garage rock from the 60′s rather than jazz, and that will get you pretty close to the music of Malachai.
Malachai is also closely connected to the Bristol art scene, from whence the mysterious Banksy has sprung. They’ve commissioned many of their buddies to produce artwork for their newest album Ugly Side of Love, including the more-than-up-and-coming Nick Walker, Paris, Marc Bessant, Johnny O, 2Keen, FLX, Eko, K148, Dave Stansbie, Milk, Acer, Naomi Sisson, Mr. Jago and Andy Council.
