IsabellaBlow

The tragic life of Isabella Blow can be told through her array of eccentric hats. Always searching for her niche in the haughty world of fashion, Blow intimately longed for personal satisfaction. Hats "keep everyone away from me. They say, Oh, can I kiss you? I say, No, thank you very much. That's why I've worn the hat. Goodbye. I don't want to be kissed by all and sundry. I want to be kissed by the people I love" (Wikipedia).

Blow worked her way through the fashion industry, assisting Anna Wintour and Andre Leon Talley at Vogue, discovering Alexander McQueen and model Sophie Dahl, and becoming the fashion director of Tatler. But her ultimate fame came from her collaboration with milliner Philip Treacy, beginning her love affair with hats. Isabella Blow was known throughout the world of fashion as a style icon but never received the professional recognition she felt she deserved.

After a long battle with depression intensified by her inability to have children, Isabella Blow committed suicide on May 6, 2007. In her honor, many guests attended the service donning their most extravagant hats.
