It can be tough shopping for the indie-rock super snob who has everything obscure and is impressed by very little. Enter Yellow Bird Project (YBP), a Canadian non-profit organization that’s enlisted a wide array of today’s most vital and visual indie rock artists to create unique t-shirt designs, with all profits benefiting charities of the artists’ choice.
For example, the proceeds from Grizzly Bear’s new abstract design based on wheels and machinery (top right) will go to Brighter Planet, “a foundation seeking to help reduce our carbon footprint and take control over climate change.” While Bon Iver’s red and athletic gray design (bottom right), which gets its inspiration from “architectural windows and wave theory” will benefit Interval House, a Toronto based women’s shelter. Now you can give a cool gift this holiday season that also gives back to world, which is what this time of the year is supposed to be all about.
The new designs – and previous offerings from over 20 other bands – can be seen and ordered here. T-shirts are $25 each plus shipping and handling.
