Beads for Life Women from the Slums of Kampala Uganda working their way out of extreme poverty by rolling paper into beads.

Wednesday, December 2nd at 5:15 pm (feature documentary): Calcutta Hilton Sonagacchi is the largest, most infamous sex district in Calcutta. Everyday 20,000 men seek out the services of the 6,000 women who work there. Many of these women were stolen from their homes, some were tricked, others sold into prostitution by friends and family. It was in the midst of this Evie Ashton discovered an inspiring group doing their best to make a difference.

If you're looking for an alternative to the usual holiday consumerism which also helps support disadvantaged artisans here and around the world be sure to check out the Fair Trade Holiday Market. The market is organized by Lawrence Fair Trade, a community group dedicated to raising awareness of global economic injustice and working to establish sustainable solutions, and features fairly traded handcrafts, apparel, chocolate, dry goods and much more.
