Since forming in 2008 The Splinters have steadily built a fan base around their simplistic, yet super-catchy garage-pop sing-alongs that are the musical equivalent of pink bubblegum being sliced apart with a dirty razor blade. Songs that pair the energy and guitar distortion of riot-grrrl rock from the 90's with lo-fi versions of Shangri-Las-esque melodies, played over tambourine-centric rhythm and are ultimately short, sweet and to the point. The results are a timeless sound that The Splinters and others like them (The Coathangers, Vivian Girls) have used to create a permanent place for themselves in the indie-rock lexicon. The Splinters' first official single "Splintered Bridges" was just recently released through a Double Negative 7inch on August 1st, a pressing of only 300 copies so you better act fast. Then after these four gals from Oakland, CA hit the big time you can have something pretentious to say like, "Yeah their new album is pretty rad but have you heard their first 7inch? It was made before they started recording in a real studio and the songs are way more lo-fi and raw."
