The Spidermums are an indie rock band who use an interesting mix of feedback, delay and small doses of messy guitar pop to produce a sound that at different times taps into My Bloody Valentine, Jesus and Mary Chain and Guided By Voices.  The sound they produce is familiar yet still impresses the feeling of listening to something unique.  Recently the Spidermums emailed us links to their three latest tunes and here they are for everyone’s listening pleasure.

The band is compromised of three veterans of the Kansas City, MO music scene: James Capps (The Girl is a Ghost – drummer, Pixel Panda – guitar), Josh Thomas (Bodisartha – vocals/guitar, GrassCanon – Bass), and Justin Piatt (Bodisartha – drums/vocals, GrassCanon – drums).  The “Spidermums EP” was released in February of 2008 and is available through their website.

It should also be noted that they met over a discussion about hip hop luminaries 2pac and Biggie, which is pretty cool in The Rathaus’ book.  Enjoy!
